I had the package installed but could not set it up on my pc

sudo apt-get install clamav
Or use synaptic as you said.
If you already. do this:
#> ps aux | grep clam
if you see something like this:
clamav 14725 0.2 0.2 25968 1456 ? Ss 00:47 0:00 /usr/bin/freshclam -d –quiet
Then everything is working just fine… Clam just kinda does its thing back there…
